No-Ad
Scoring
In no-ad scoring a player needs to win only 4 points to win a game. If the
score goes to 3 points all (or deuce) the next point decides the game.
Typically, regular numbers (1, 2,
3, and 4) are used instead of the traditional (15, 30, 40, game) scoring.
The traditional score of 40-15 is 3-1 in no-ad scoring. If/when the score
reaches 3-3 in a particular game, then the next point will decide the game.
The receiver has the right to choose which court the serve
is to be delivered on the 7th point.
12-Point Tiebreaker
A tiebreaker may be played in lieu of a third set or to determine the
outcome of a set tied at 6-6. The first player to reach 7 points (with a 2
point margin) wins the tiebreaker. The person who received during the
last game played serves the first point of the tiebreaker. The server serves
the first point to the deuce court and does not serve a second point. The
next server serves the next two points in a row, starting the serve into the
ad court. Both players alternate serving two serves in a row: first to the
ad court and then to the deuce court. Players change ends of the court every
6 points, and the player who serves the last point of one of these 6-point
segments also serves the first point of the next one (from the deuce court).
If the score reaches 6 points all, players change ends and continue in the
same pattern until one player wins by 2 points.
